Warner Springs Ride
Highlights¨ A wonderful ride on Saturday morning that will head out at 9:00 am sharp ¨ We will be heading North this time out of the ranch and connecting with the PCT heading south, it will be about 5 to 7 hours of riding time depending on lunch. ¨ Bring a lunch ¨ It is a beautiful ride. The wild flowers are just coming on now so should be fantastic by ride day! There will be plenty of water crossings, there is nothing particularly technical on the ride, but we do have hills here in Warner Springs and some rocks too so if you are not capable of water crossings hills and some rocks we can put you to work back in camp cooking, cleaning, playing horse shoes? ¨ There is some nice hiking and if you like to swim, the pond is warming up! Keep your eyes peeled for the two snapping turtles! ¨ After the ride, we will be having a pot luck so bring your Dutch oven specialty or favorite dish and drink of choice. ¨ We will have a nice bon fire in the evening and if George happens to come there is plenty of wood to create a nice Boone fire! For those who choose to stay over until Sunday, you may ride at your leisure Sunday or we can arrange for another guided ride.
Directions to the ride (Old Chaney Ranch) Coming off the 15 freeway, you will exit 79 south heading out towards Warner Springs. If you are one who likes to check mileage (Tom) we are approximately 36 miles from the freeway to the ranch Stay on 79 south past the 371 past Oak Grove and past Sun Shine Summit at approximately 4 miles past Sun Shine Summit you will see a sign that says Puerta La Cruz conservation Camp, it is a large sign so you shouldn't miss it, make a left here, the next right you can make will say the Old Chaney Ranch make a right here onto the dirt road. We are two miles in from this point at the Old Chaney Ranch. I will try to have some signs out at the turn off 79 as well as up the dirt road, if you stay straight on the dirt road, you will come right into the ranch. Parking is in the oak grove to the right. There are plenty of trees to highline to or room to trailer tie and there are six stalls, (first come first serve). There is water for stock and people and two out houses. Come on out and enjoy the weekend, it is always lots of fun and the riding is great.
Hope to see you all here. If you get lost (Tom) please call, or if you need more info on the ride, call Mandy at (760)782-9250 Verizon works in most places here most other cell phone companies will not. There is a phone in Sun Shine Summit as well as in Warner Springs. Happy trails! See ya soon, Mandy
